My mother used to sing in a choir so she loved Enya also and she immediately started to listen to the album with me.īrian you can imagine a word called “happiness”…it was me! Cursum Perficio, African drummers, then Exile, River, Longships!!!! Simply ‘unspokable’ and this is a word I mean for the Enya’s music. So I said “Mom, please buy this album to me!”. One day I said : “My God, I NEED to know who’s singing”. I was just 13 when I lestened to ” Let me sail/Let me sail/Let me Orinoco flow”….so the catchy song was always on my mind and I said : “Mom, I want this music.” I remember my City had a Radio Station for Classical Music and Orinoco used to play a lot. I guess you are like me! :-) The song which attracted me to Enya was also Orinoco Flow!!! Thanks Orinoco Flow, because my heart and soul were open to a fanstastic kind od music very ‘unspokable’. It’s really lovely to read your enthusiasm for and admiration of Enya’s music Patricia, and no you are not writing too much, in my opinion. I am pleased that I also have every song she recorded, (except ‘The Lonely Ghost’), through various collections, singles, and downloads, but only some on CD singles. )Ībout twenty years have passed since then, and in the meantime I have been lucky enough to collect all of Enya’s albums including rarer material such as ‘The Frog Prince’ on CD.
#ENYA ALBUM 2016 PORTABLE#
A little time after that, I finally made the transition to CD having purchased my first portable Twin Cassette/CD Player, and bought several of the Enya albums I already had on CD. In the following years, I got ‘Shepherd Moons’ and ‘The Memory of Trees’ on cassette, and was given a Birthday present of ‘Watermark’ on cassette whilst at college, which I had only made a home recording of from the LP onto tape before that for my own personal use. My first introduction to Enya was the iconic ‘Orinoco Flow’ and I have been hooked since then.
I remember as vividly as if it was yesterday going to a Record Store in my local City and buying the ‘Watermark’ LP on vinyl, (which I still have), only a couple of weeks after the album was released. Peace and Patricia So great to read that you are a fan of Enya since 1989. Oh my God, Lucia, I’m writing too much !!!! And this album proves that! So, The Memory of Trees I used to love in first place…now lost the posiion to DSI … :-) because of the ‘beat’ together with synths…oh My God and what about the performance of “The forge of the angels?”Īll so emotional and perfect and amazing…Her talent never went away and never will be. I also see a great variation with arrangements and creative way to play…In fact I love the way Enya play a song and in a certain moment she “pushes” the songs and a new sound comes as she did with “Journey of the angels”, ” Only time” or when she stops a part of the song to continue… like “Book of days”….I have no words for “The Loxian Gates!”…. I just wanted to say Dark Sky Island is an amazing album! It’s fantastic second to none! All the songs are amazing, the way Enya sings is so emotional…when we compare her singing in songs like “The Frog Prince” and “Dreams” ( 1985) with “Astra et Luna” and “Solace” (now) the difference is brutal!
